Ballistic Press Automation Systems

Automation Systems Manufacturing

Auer Precision builds automation systems with a specific focus on the BallisticTM Press System. This family of electromagnetic actuated punch presses comprises of manually operated standard production platforms through to standalone precision converting systems. BallisticTM presses have been widely integrated with Delta Industrial web converting systems. Manufacturing of critical components extends beyond the die. The entire process must be considered when converting products, and non-metallic materials often have elastomeric properties which change the final configuration measurable from the punch geometry. Auer Precision is the only company in the world that compensates for these changes based upon the statistical interpretation of thousands of produced parts.

High Precision Class A Dies

A recognized tool design and build company, Auer Precision excels at Class A, ultra-high precision stamping dies. Our specialty is thin materials, both metallic and non-metallic, in the range 0.001 - 0.060" thicknesses. A wide variety of tool designs can be supported, from single hit to progressive designs. Auer offers a full range of die design, engineering and manufacturing services. Auer introduced the MasterDieTM with insert technology in 1995. This allows for rapid turnaround for new designs, often eliminating the need for prototype volumes. Our stamping equipment set allows for progressive stamping rates up to 600 spm. More recently, Auer introduced BallisticTM Dies for use in BallisticTM Press Systems. These dies have advanced guidance and load spreading to ensure accurate clearances are maintained symmetrically around the punches to ensure maximum part capability.

Clean Room Manufacturing

Auer also maintains a validated and certified ISO 14644 Class 5, 7 or 8 clean room outfitted with ultra-clean BallisticTM Presses for applications requiring particulate control. Cleanliness is critical for analytical, medical and semiconductor packaging based components.

Ballistic Punching Standard / Custom Systems

The Auer BallisticTM Press utilizes electromagnetic solenoids to drive the upper die platen to 2-12 ft/sec velocities at the point of impact. The solenoids are driven by a high current to ensure maximum acceleration. Unconventional die design needs to be considered to best leverage this technology. The die components should sum to the lowest possible weight to maximize velocity (momentum = mass x velocity2). Non-metallic materials benefit from this technology as the thermo-elastic properties are disrupted by the ballistic piercing. Small footprint and clean room compatible, the Auer Ballistic PressTM is the pinnacle technology for many applications. Using your choice of PLC, automated process solutions become reliable and easy to operate.
